Charon is a man who lives in the Underworld. He is the son of Erebus and Nyx, and it is his responsibility to ferry the dead between the world of the living and the Underworld, across the river Styx. Charon’s services do not come gratis with death. Although Hermes may have taken the souls of the dead to the banks of the river for free, Charon demands his fee. People who are unable to pay the fee are doomed to wander the shores of the river for 100 years.

Quote 17 Apr 239 notes

“Sometimes I feel so—I don’t know—lonely. The kind of helpless feeling when everything you’re used to has been ripped away. Like there’s no more gravity, and I’m left to drift in outer space. With no idea where I’m headed.”

“Like a little lost Sputnik?”

“I guess so.”

And think: she wanted storms. The rim
Of the sky will be the colour of hard crimson,
And your heart, as it was then, will be on fire.”

For me, beauty is valued more than anything — the beauty that is manifest in a curved line or in an act of creativity.

“I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough..” ― Nicholas Sparks

Quote 29 Nov 185 notes
What can I do with my happiness? How can I keep it, conceal it, bury it where I may never lose it? I want to kneel as it falls over me like rain, gather it up with lace and silk, and press it over myself again.

Quote 29 Nov 100 notes
Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.

Quote 29 Nov
He walked out in the grey light and stood and he saw for a brief moment the absolute truth of the world. The cold relentless circling of the intestate earth. Darkness implacable. The blind dogs of the sun in their running. The crushing black vacuum of the universe. And somewhere two hunted animals trembling like groundfoxes in their cover. Borrowed time and borrowed world and borrowed eyes with which to sorrow it. -
